Course Objective
The objective of the Phlebotomy Seminar is to learn the basics of phlebotomy and venipuncture as it relates to patient care.
Course Content
- Introduction – importance of Phlebotomy in patient care
- Patient interaction and related legal, ethical and safety issues
- Patient identification and lab requisition form
- Venipuncture equipment and Vacuum-ized blood collection system
- Routine venipunture using vacutainer system
Course Prerequisite
- Degree or Diploma in a medical discipline OR a minimum of 1 year experience in a medical setting
- Current Medix students should be at least halfway through completion of their current program and be in good standing
- English Proficiency
