How to Start a Real Estate Career in Ontario?
A Clear Path to Getting Licensed
Starting a career in real estate can be rewarding, but it’s also a regulated profession with a clear process. In Ontario, that process is overseen by the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO), which ensures that all real estate professionals meet the industry’s professional and ethical standards.

Here’s what the path to licensing looks like:
Step 1:
Pre-licensing Education
We offer a structured education program approved by RECO, Ontario’s real estate regulator. It covers the essential knowledge, laws, and best practices you’ll need to pass your exams and build a successful real estate career. Our program is delivered in a small-group format, led by experienced instructors, and includes built-in exam reviews and a clear schedule to help you stay focused and on track.
While self-paced programs may seem appealing at first, especially when motivation is high, studies show that completion rates for these formats tend to be low. Once that initial drive fades, it can be difficult to stay committed without structure or support. That’s why our guided learning model is designed to keep you moving forward. With small class sizes, regular check-ins, and a defined start and end date, you’ll stay motivated and accountable as you progress alongside a cohort of learners working toward the same goal
Step 2:
Registering With RECO
Your licence is just the beginning. Within your first two years, you’ll need to complete additional post-registration courses as part of your learning path. These courses help you strengthen your skills, explore specializations, and build a foundation for long-term success.
- Submitting an application
- Completing a Canadian Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
- Meeting all other RECO requirements
Once approved, you’ll be officially licensed to trade in real estate in Ontario.
Step 3:
Post-registration & Career Growth

Your licence is just the beginning. Within your first two years, you’ll need to complete additional post-registration courses as part of your learning path. These courses help you strengthen your skills, explore specializations, and build a foundation for long-term success.
