Real Estate Broker Program Admission Requirements
Who Can Apply and What You’ll Need to Get Started
Earning your Real Estate Broker designation is a smart move if you’re looking for more freedom, higher earning potential, and greater control over your business. Before you can enrol in the Real Estate Broker Program, there are a few important requirements to keep in mind.
These help make sure you’re ready for the coursework and licensing process and set you up for success as you take the next step in your career. One key requirement from the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) is that you must have been registered as a salesperson for at least 24 of the past 36 months.

General
Admission Requirements
To apply for the Real Estate Broker Program, you must:
- Be a licensed real estate salesperson in Ontario: If you haven’t yet completed the Real Estate Salesperson Program, that must come first.
- Pass the Broker Qualifying Exam: This exam tests your understanding of key real estate concepts and regulatory knowledge.
- Have strong English skills: Since the program is delivered in English, you’ll need solid reading, writing, and comprehension skills to succeed.
- Register using your legal name: This is required by the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) and will be used for all official records.
Completing the Real Estate Broker Program is a required step in the licensing process regulated by RECO, Ontario’s real estate services regulator. You may also need to meet additional requirements set by RECO, so we recommend reviewing their full licensing guidelines.
Requesting
Accommodations
If you have a temporary or permanent disability, you may be eligible for academic accommodations.
- You don’t need to disclose a diagnosis.
- You’ll need to provide documentation explaining how your condition affects your learning.
- Accommodations must be requested before registering for any course, exam, or assessment.
- All documentation is confidential and won’t be shared without your written consent.
