The post-registration phase is an important next step for newly registered real estate agents in Ontario. It helps you build on what you’ve learned—sharpening your skills, deepening your knowledge, and staying on top of compliance.
To renew your registration at the end of your first two years with RECO, you’ll need to complete this program.

Eligibility
To enroll, you must have completed the pre-registration phase of the Real Estate Salesperson Program, and be registered with RECO.
Agents must complete the mandatory compliance course first, followed by any two of the five electives.
To renew your registration with RECO at the end of the initial two-year cycle, course completion is required.
Curriculum
The Real Estate Salesperson Program – post-registration education includes:
Mandatory compliance course
This course focuses on the legal responsibilities of real estate agents under the Trust in Real Estate Services Act (TRESA), the law that governs the sector. Participants will gain insight into maintaining compliance during all stages of a real estate transaction, managing non-compliance issues, and maintaining their registration.
Elective courses
Choose 2 of 5 electives. Specialized topics include rural/waterfront properties, investment strategies for residential and commercial properties, and alternative ownership structures such as co-ownership and leaseholds. These electives provide advanced, targeted knowledge to help you build expertise in niche markets and attract a diverse clientele.
Program Timeline
Learners must complete the post-registration phase of the Real Estate Salesperson Program within 2 years of registering with RECO.
